We finally had a chance to see Borat the other night. I had resisted because the character was somewhat annoying and over-hyped. Several friends kept talking about how funny it was and how they laughed through the whole movie. I put it in our Netflix cue and it finally arrived. Even with it in the house I wasn't eager to see it plus I needed to wait until the kids were in bed. It ended up sitting around for almost 4 weeks before we finally put it in the DVD player.
There were definitely some funny moments but I was disappointed. After the first 20 minutes or so I was tired of him using the same language, culture or accent issues over and over again. The naked hotel room wrestling scene was way too much and too long. He prayed on people's good nature of trying to help and educate someone who is visiting the United States with most of the scenes turning vulgar. I love candid camera and crude humor done right but I didn't find most of the movie funny.
I’m not sure if I was disappointed or relived when it was over. I wasn’t enjoying it but had expected so much more.
